Alliance  ·  Exploration  ·  Acceptance

A professional counsellor can help us to effectively explore or change something in our lives which may be holding us back or stopping us from reaching our potential. Alternatively, it can just be a space to explore any overwhelming emotions such as anxiety, depression, stress or bereavement, creating more emotional resilience and acceptance.

There are so many variables that can affect our lives: our upbringing, relationships, life experiences, loss, identity, the wider world, work, school, culture and society. Some of these elements and stages of life can prove to be difficult. Sometimes the support of friends or family can help us to overcome these hurdles; at other times we can manage by ourselves. Sometimes however, this may not be possible, or some additional support may be needed.

Within a safe, warm, friendly and confidential space, I aim to create a working alliance in which we can explore your thoughts and feelings together in greater depth.

Every individual is unique and so I ensure my sessions are adapted depending on your individual needs. Having trained extensively as a counsellor and attended counselling sessions myself, I understand the real difference it can make to someone’s life and am passionate about the process.

I would describe myself as an integrative counsellor with a humanistic basis.  Using an integrative model to counselling practice, I include a humanistic approach which aims to foster and develop a therapeutic relationship within a non-judgemental and empathic space with the belief that the client is the expert. Alongside humanism, I draw from aspects of other approaches including existential, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Gestalt, depending on the client and their needs from therapy.
