Honesty  ·  Acceptance  ·  Empathy

I have been working as a Counsellor for more than ten years and have been privileged to witness incredible growth in clients, many of whom had given up on the idea of self-acceptance. My work aligns with a humanistic, or person centred, approach and is based in compassion; both for self and others and, through compassion, helping people bring peace to their lives.

Before becoming a counsellor, I lived in London for twenty years and ran a successful landscaping and garden centre business. I was lucky to work in some wonderful locations including the Chelsea Flower Show and the Peace garden at the Imperial War Museum in Lambeth. There are parallels between tending to the needs of plants and people and I believe passionately in the power of both to flourish, given the right conditions. I moved to Cornwall to find a quieter place to bring up my two young children. Outside of counselling, I love the sea, and try to get in it as often as I can.

Humanistic counselling predicates in the belief that we all, given the right conditions, have an infinite capacity to heal and grow. These conditions: honesty, acceptance and empathy, offered skilfully by a trained therapist, will form the basis for change and healing. Whilst it can be most effective in helping individuals deal with many issues including addictions, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, bereavement, and abuse of any kind (whether historic or current), the humanistic approach does not offer quick fixes and can be incredibly powerful in enabling lasting change.

At Lifetime Therapy I am a Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor and Group Enabler. I have also lectured in Counselling and Supervision. I am an accredited and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
